Core 1 - Administrative Core

The Administration Core is responsible for the:

(1) Oversight, coordination, and administration of all Emory University
       Head and Neck Cancer SPORE Program activities,
(2) Monitoring and facilitating review of research progress,
(3) Fostering of new and ongoing research opportunities through distribution of
      Developmental Research funds,
(4) Recruitment of new investigators into the field of head and neck cancer
      translational research through the distribution of Career Development
      funds,
(5) Preparation of SPORE renewal applications,
(6) Maintaining fiscal oversight of essential SPORE components including
      Research Projects and Core Resources,
(7) Scheduling and facilitation of SPORE Executive and Advisory meetings.

To this end, the SPORE Administrative Core will work closely with the directors of the Developmental Research and Career Development Programs, the Research Projects and Cores (see figure below). Furthermore, this SPORE application includes collaborators at neighboring institutions ( Emory Crawford Long Hospital, Grady Health Systems, Atlanta VA Medical Center, and Georgia Institute of Technology) and at remote sites ( M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, University of Pittsburgh Cancer Center, Rutgers University, and Cornell University). The Administration Core will coordinate these interactions, maintain accurate schedules and meeting notes, facilitate SPORE-SPORE and SPORE-NCI interactions and meetings, and provide a centralized and organized resource for the identification of head and neck cancer research resources in Georgia.
